Review of Rob the Mob (2014) by W P — 15 Jul 2014
The mystery is why this film came and disappeared so quickly, without much of a theater release. OK, so I'm enamored with the work of Nina Arianda, who was spectacular as Rosie; she's the reason I followed "Rob the Mob" during production and caught it the moment it hit pay-per-view after a limited release that began in New York, jumped to California and landed in a few other scattered locales.
Based on a true story, the plot is fresh and engaging. The acting, provided by a mix of well- and lesser-known talent, is solid to outstanding. It drives to a conclusion that may be inevitable, but still has some mystery. How will this dim-witted criminal couple finally meet their demise?
It's a film that must have been badly promoted, because it deserves a much broader audience than it achieved.
