Review of Road to Perdition (2002) by Abdallah M — 08 Mar 2010
I'm all for a slow-building drama, but this movie was too slow. We never really get a good sense of who Michael Sullivan is, which is a problem because he's the focus of the movie. This isn't Tom Hanks fault but the screenwriter's and the director's.
They don't give him much to do besides go along with the machinations of the plodding plot, so he's just not very interesting. I loved the ending scene- stories with inevitable endings intrigue and excite me, and this was no difference, but the ending was the best part of this film.
It took too long to get there, and nothing preceding the ending came close to matching it.
