Review of Road House (1989) by Paul J — 24 Oct 2010
Joel Silver produced this slick Hollywood 80s action flick and he knows how to keep the pace going. The characters are stereotypes and the story formulaic. Yet, it works. Action, nudity and drama. All the necessary ingredients are there for an entertaining ride.
Even the actors are entertaining to watch, especially Ben Gazzara and Sam Elliot. That said, it's certainly not high art. Very simple and predictable in an entertaning sort of way. Like Cobra, it's a guilty pleasure.
