Review of Road House (1989) by Brett S — 28 Jan 2011
Quite possibly the most brilliant American film of the past 50 years. A sweeping epic, running through the gamut of human emotion, "Road House" was robbed of the '89 Best Picture. Utterly flawless direction by the esteemed Mr.
Rowdy Herrington, and the characters are not at all one-dimensional. For example, the protagonist, James Dalton (played with incalculable depth by Patrick "the Swayz" Swayze) is both a bouncer AND has a degree in Philosophy.
Imagine that! All in all, a priceless entry in the American film canon. Watch it. Now.
