Review of Road House (1989) by Barf J — 04 Nov 2012
This movie makes no sense.
This world is not our world.
Its an alternate universe where hundreds of yuppies and hillbillys live in a small town and all share the same local bar.
Where fighting is the local currency and all the 'hot' women look like anorexic Wayne Gretzky's auditioning for the Price is Right.
Patrick Swayze is a lone wolf with a lion's mane, and NO one better mess with him.
Everyone fights all the time and the Police(if there ever is any???) are never to be seen.
This is like a yuppie mid 80's Conan the Barbarian, where the bar serves as a temple to the wasteland of depravity.
Ben Gazzara is just evil FOR NO REASON.
And Jeff Healy plays blues rock and looks like a forever teenager.
Healy is also the most believable and realistic character in this movie btw.
Amazing film, could be a Twilight Zone episode.
I hope I never wind up in this dimension without the proper Karate training I would desperately need.
Oh yeah, people drive Monster Trucks around like regular cars! awesome!
