Review of River of No Return (1954) by Jennifer B — 26 Jun 2008
The scenery in this film is pretty and it is interesting to watch Marilyn in a lesser known film. Her powerful presence is unparalleled, one cannot take their eyes off her whenever she is on the screen.
Marilyn gets to sing some rather nice songs, in particular the title track, and she sings them all beautifully. It's a shame that she did so few musicals...
Unfortunately, these are the only positive things I can say about the film.
The story lacks believability, including Marilyn's performance which is very Loreli-esqe and at odds with her environment and saloon singing profession.
