Review of Risky Business (1983) by Ryan L — 25 May 2012
You know it's a comedy because nothing too serious ever happens in it, but it does not deliver too many laughs either. The script is so-so, but the directing is stylistic without being too artsy or drawing too much attention to itself.
It is an interesting role for Cruise, he starts off self-doubting and reserved, but grows into the type of character he is now famous for. This alone makes the first half of the movie less enjoyable to watch then the latter half.
Still, this is not enough to save this very uneven movie.
