Review of Risky Business (1983) by Micah L — 17 Nov 2008
Considering the fact that the only scene of this movie I had seen before yesterday was Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear and pink oxford shirt to Bob Seger, I was a little naive to what the film was about.
After seeing it, I can say that it is a coming of age story that is not particularly well told. I'm not sure if it's because Tom Cruise is just so hard to like, or that the plot is so choppy and misguided, or that most of the cast does little more than show up for their roles (save for a young Joe Pantoliano) or maybe it all has to do with the fact that this movie was made in the 80's.
In any case, its not particularly engaging or entertaining, and since I just happened to watch this movie right after I saw "The Graduate" a movie with similar themes, I couldn't help but notice how much better that movie was than this.
