Review of Risky Business (1983) by Itamar K — 30 Dec 2010
Risky Business is darker and seedier than any other teen comedy of the 80's, which is easy to forget if all you can think about is Tom Cruise dancing around in his underwear. In fact it's more realistic and understated than most comedies of its era, which isn't to say that it's not also funny; Tom Cruise is good, more understated and humble than he's been since, and it remains one of his best performances, but the show is stolen by Rebecca De Mornay who is dominating, funny, sassy and very sexy, and by a young Joe Pantoliano in a small but memorable part.
