Review of Risky Business (1983) by William B — 31 Jul 2011
This is the movie that has been praised and credited for launching Tom Cruise's career. I was curious to see what it was about, as I was too young to see it when it first came out. I knew nothing about the plot going in to it, so I was kind of surprised when the story started to unfold.
I do not care for movies that glamorize prostitution, and this is kind of what it was. Guido, the killer pimp, was a comic character, and all the hookers were personable, likable, and clean. And guess what - all the rich boys want to get involved with the prostitutes. Very absurd. I was entertained about half the time and the other half I was shaking my head.
