Review of Risky Business (1983) by Dylan C — 18 Jun 2012
The teen classic that blasted Cruise to the position of movie-icon, it's also a phenomenal example of eighties filmmaking as a whole. It has a dream-like sensibility that had me intoxicated from the opening credits, a large part of which is owed to some great cinematography and a hypnotic soundtrack by Tangerine dream.
What I thought was going to be an exceptional sex comedy is actually a deep, emotionally varied look at entering the real world, filled with biting satire, gripping performances, and some well-executed laughs.
I look forward to repeated viewings.
