Review of Rising Sun (1993) by Demetris H — 10 Jan 2010
Another well made Micheal Crichton adaptation. Rising sun tells the complex tale of a murder investigation that becomes leads the two investigators (Snipes and Connery) into the power games of a giant japanese corporation.
The film itself does a beautiful job of showing the stark differences of the american and japanese culture, but also they share the same dark undertones that only extreme power can elicit. The cast is pretty impresive - heavyweights ranging from Connery to Ray Wise and Harvey Keitel.
The script was enjoyable and added to the character of the film, with some impressive shots and dramatic music to seal the package. Overall an enjoyable 90's drama with some memorable lines and performances.
