Review of Risen (2016) by Joseph M — 17 Feb 2016

I really wanted to give Risen 5 stars. But if I'm being objective, I can only give it a generous 4. The movie, while not 100% biblically accurate, does follow closely enough to the word that most bible believers will forgive any departures.

What made the movie lose points was its rhythm and ending. It felt a little jerky going from action scenes to dialogue scenes and back. Suspense didn't build smoothly. Other than that I felt the end was a bit anticlimactic.

It could have ended 10 minutes sooner and have crowds on their feet. Instead they decided to extend the movie beyond the climax to a scene that could have just as easily hit the editing room floor. It was well acted though and the imagery was very engaging and stirred the emotions.

I pray moviegoers will be moved to pick up bibles and and open their hearts to know this Yeshua the movie speaks of.
