Review of Risen (2016) by Frederick D — 20 Mar 2016
Very well done. The movie uses subtly, abandoning the grand special effects in favor of something simple yet still powerful. The gore and violence is appropriate compared to what you normally read in the bible, so it is still suitable for some children even.
The acting was on par, and the script wasn't too difficult to follow. It ended well, leaving things more open to interpretation rather than cramming religion down your throat. I have to say, this movie was one of the better religious movies by far, that Hollywood has produced since The Passion.
