Sorry, but I totally disagree with the negative reviews. I am not even a Christian, I left religion 12 years ago, and watched it with a friend with a lot of skepticism, thinking it would be nothing but religious trash.

But I was very surprised to realize it is very well acted, very well directed, and while it presents the classical Biblical account with no controversial issues whatsoever (which is understandable), it actually accomplishes to transmit a deep message without becoming religious, and it turns out to have its good share of intrigue and even action scenes that make it dynamic and fun to watch.

It presents a fragment of the Christic story that is hardly told in mainstream media: what happened between the moment Jesus was crucified and the moment in which he finally ascended. And the story is told from a very original perspective: that of a pagan, skeptical Roman commander that works as a Tribune for Pontius Pilate.

We get to see in general the Roman perspective of Jesus and of the Jewish messianic prophecies, and the political machinations of the Sanederin (the Jewish leaders) and Pontius. Excellent movie. I recommend it to you all.

If you're not religious, you won't regret ot because if its fresh, more mundane perspective.
