Review of Risen (2016) by Don S — 20 Oct 2016
The first half of this film is almost a 5 star movie for me! The Roman, Clavius investigating Jesus' resurrection and pursuing all leads to discredit the Nazarene's followers and discover where the body has been taken! And when Clavius finally sees Jesus with his own eyes, it is the high point of the film, and in my opinion, should have been the end!
But it isn't, and the film quickly falls apart as they leave the city for Galilee. It almost becomes another film, in tone, and in storytelling. And the end is just terrible. If I were to ever watch this again, I would stop it right after Thomas inspects Jesus' crucifixion wounds. I would advise all others to do the same!
