Review of Risen (2016) by Norm D — 03 Jun 2016
Superb, top-shelf production (Sony), soundtrack, & casting. Minor problems: The fiction of the actual character of Mary of Magdala concocted in the 5th century, the 13th or 14th century Shroud of Turin seen as burial cloth, & the Malta sets being much more barren than Galilee. Otherwise, terrific - really good.
Steve Hawking & Bill Mahr devotees will reflexively gag. But it's one of the best Biblical presentations since Franco Zefferelli's "Jesus of Nazareth" back in the late '70's.
