A very satisfying reimagining for this franchise, which successfully avoids all of the mistakes made by Tim Burton in his attempt to remake the the seminal 1968. This version will not alienate those unfamiliar with the franchise but still gives some cheeky referential jokes for à 1/4ber fans.
The CGI allow the advancement of the plot and aid the characterization of simians, rather than just wowing the audience (which they also succeed in doing). After a second viewing I was impressed by how personal this film is.
