Review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) by Aslyn E — 19 Jul 2014
Apes will rise. Popcorn film done well this time with a well paced tale of the rise of the monkey man dem. Ceaser is a chimp born infected with a serum intended to cue Alziemer's, it makes him super smart (for an ape) and after an ill-judged attack on a human enables him to break out of his prison and start the revolution using "Gorilla" tactics (LOL).
It's always hard for a film to be good when the audience already know the ending but this does a great job, not crawling along with the melodrama (although there is a little involing the father) and giving you the necessary build-up before the glorious closing chaos.
Acting performances are generally solid but Ceaser is the star of the show, excellent CG that works Andy Serkis and the computer nerds deserve a handshake. Makes a strong case for going to the cinema this summer.
