What could have been a special-effects fest ends up being an simmering potboiler with intelligence and heart. After his brilliant portrayal of Gollum in the LOTR series, Andy Serkis has another landmark achievement in motion-capture to his name with his astounding performance as Caesar the ape.
One of these days they will have to give him an honorary Oscar.
