Review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) by Avneesh M — 15 Jul 2014
Normally, when I haven't seen a movie in 3 years - I've probably forgotten most of it except the basic plot line. However, I was surprised by just how much of this and how many sequences I remembered clearly, because they were so powerful and memorable.
The plotline is sensible and great, the effects are top notch and to add to it, the film is well acted as well. Andy Serkis is simply unbelievable as Caeser, making you care more for him and be engaged with him more then you would have for any human characters from movies recently seen. James Franco does a great job too and the bond shared between both is amongst the highlight's of the films.
The movie is paced really well and moves along at steady speed, tell a good story within 100 minutes with plenty of memorable moments that make great use of CGI and are edited extremely well. This was the surprise hit and franchise starter of 2011 and even today it remains an awesome movie! 4/5.
