Review of Rise of the Footsoldier (2007) by Alex L — 08 Jun 2011
This film depends on taste, it can depress, overwhelm or antagonize a violence jaded palette but for those who like their films to have lightly blood smeared realism this film will satisfy.
I enjoy films based on true stories and I had to chase down the book because dislike, loath or cower from Carlton Leech his story is an interesting one.
Going from his days as a proud football hooligan leading the notorious group The Firm to his days as a steroid jacking bouncer extraordinaire and finally as one of the infamous Essex Boys - in fact the last, lucky ALIVE one, this film takes you down gritty, gory yet memorable alleys. Class.
