Review of Rise: Blood Hunter (2007) by Türküler O — 20 Jul 2007
The prognosticatingly named Rise: Blood Hunter is an exploitation vampire flick with the requisite nudity and gore, without the actual thrills or chills. The lust and violence are too sparse to generate much of any excitement, but graphic brutality is enough to keep you awake ? for the duration of the film.
The cast involved are surprisingly well-known and the production values are good, but even fine performers like Lucy Liu or Michael Chiklis can only wallow with one-dimensional characterization in this dumb, dull, overlong stinker of a script that anchors the whole unfortunate wreck firmly on the B-grade shelf, sun-yellowed and forgotten in a corner video store.
