Review of Ripley's Game (2002) by Andy T — 31 Aug 2008
I enjoyed the coolness of Malchovich and he does capture the icy cold character of Tom Ripley (from Patricia Highsmith's easy to read novels).
The series of books are are very entertaining. If you're interested in the character of Tom Ripley, he is essentially a character who has bullshitted his way into a privileged life and carefully calculated how to cover up the sporadic murders of people he sees as a threat to his opulent lifestyle.
Most of the scenes involving Ripley are 'black comedies' It's pretty entertaining as the situations generate loads of 'fear of discovery' moments as he interacts calmly with the people he wants to bump off.
