Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by Will H — 26 Jul 2008
An excellent counterpoint to High Noon. John Wayne puts in another solid performance, backed up here by Dean Martin in a surprisingly good performance.
The story is, of course, very similar to that of High Noon. But its different approach actually decreases the tension created as the film goes along, although Hawks is certainly skilled enough as a director to make up for the tension he lost to the story.
