About as close as Hawks and Brackett ever came to cinematic perfection (though The Big Sleep may be a little closer). The wit is sharp and Martin is wholly credible in his role. There's some kind of magic in the Martin/Nelson duet.
Even Robin Wood seems to think so. You wouldn't want to disagree with Robin Wood, would you?
