Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by Michael A — 23 Feb 2008
The epitome of the classic western. John Wayne does his usual John Wayne impersonation, while Dean Martin does a very good job playing a recovering alcoholic. Ricky Nelson isn't on the other hand left me unconvinced.
Where Rio Bravo shows its strength is in its excellent script; well paced, great attention to detail and good dialog between fleshed out characters. Also, how could one not be charmed by Martin and Nelson performing "My Rifle, Pony and Me"?
