Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by Dan K — 27 Aug 2012
This film is absolutely amazing, the perfect combination of commercially popular and real art in film. The studios and filmmakers of today could learn a lot from this movie. Every character is complex and very interesting and every scene puts them in interesting situations or scenarios.
This movie is 2+ hours and it doesn't feel like it at all because every scene is necessary and moves the plot forward. Even the musical number (Which I'm assuming is put in because of the co-stars Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson) helps the heroes realize a crucial aspect the plot, and moves the story forward.
Truly great.
