Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by Robert Thomas M — 03 Sep 2012
Fairly likeable but bland Western. Nice performances from all involved, particularly Dean Martin as a town drunk come good, and John Wayne as his usual, gruff Sheriff. The thrill is in how a town copes with having arrested a murderer with connections, and the impending threat of his friends coming to release him.
But it drags on a bit without much happening, and there's even a musical interlude before the big shoot-out.
