The sheriff of a small western town must fight off the attempts by bandits to free an outlaw from the small jailhouse as they wait for the state marshal's arrival. Hawks makes one of the most intense thrillers, filled with suspense and a great build up to the explosive finale you expect and doesn't disappoint.
John Wayne is iconic as usual, but the surprise is Dean Martin, who plays the sheriff's helper, a recovering alcoholic.
