Review of Rio Bravo (1959) by P B — 05 Nov 2007
Rio Bravo really must be compared with High Noon as these two represent very different views on our society. High Noon should be seen as an allegoric but strongly articulated part in the discussion that McCarthyism actively had suppressed after the World War II.
Rio Bravo is an attempt to get new clothes to the nude emperor that High Noon revealed for us. Rio Bravo is a good movie but brought nothing new to the discussion and High Noon (1952) is just plain great.
