Review of Rio (2011) by Giuliana L — 25 Jun 2012
This is a beautifully animated film about a blue macaw named Blu who is taken to save his species with the last female of his kind. However, a group of smugglers kidnap the two birds and chain them together.
Once they escape the smugglers, the two try to unhook the chains but get to know each other as their adventure continues on. I do admit that I liked Rio. It was cute, funny, and, once again, beautifully animated.
However, there are some scenes (namely the musical numbers) that felt a bit sugary for my taste and had me leaning in my seat, rolling my eyes. Other than these kid moments, Rio is a film worth seeing.
