Review of Rio (2011) by Edgar C — 09 Jun 2013
For once, Rio is a different, refreshing and colorful animated film, 'different' being the outstanding key word. I have often encountered complaints from authentic Brazilian citizens talking about Cidade de Deus, Carandiru, Central do Brasil and now Rio being the primary box-office sources of information about Brazil for worldwide audiences and the negative portrayal they give about the country. Some people may be sold for the images they are shown, but the majority of us can distinguish between movies and reality; Rio shows several faces of the capital, most of them without being too far away from reality.
So yeah, I thank this film for being 'different'.
63/100.
