Review of Rio 2 (2014) by Orlando O — 17 Aug 2014
Rio 2 is a family animated movie that feels like a leftover after the first installment has set the standards so high in being a charming fun film. The first movie was cute, fun and provided outstanding colorful animation. Although, this sequel did not even get close to even being decent with boring humor, a story that has been done in other family movies before, and it was no where as fun as the original.
Blu and Jewel (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway) now have three kids and they all travel to the Amazon. Blu Meets Jewel's father and tries to win them over. But bring in the bad guy Nigel from the previous movie, and some humans who are trying to chop down the forest to get in the way of Blu trying to redeem himself to Jewel's family.
The story is unmemorable and easily forgettable once it ends. The characters and humor is boring this time around, maybe kids will seem to enjoy this. The animation is beautiful to look at with its colorful tone with the animals, environment and its decent musical scene. Rio 2 is a terrible film that fails as a sequel with its bland story, boring characters and the lack of creativity.
