Rings isn't great. From the beginning we have a nonsensical gory scene that adds nothing to the plot accept that Samara's tape was in the VCR of a girl who had been killed a week previous. Overall the film is filled with horror tropes and seems more like an extra long episode of Supernatural than an actual film.
