Obvious, predictable, fairly lame, boring, pedestrian: all words I hate to describe a movie that stars both Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. The two leads clearly know what kind of movie they are in and don't put forth the effort audiences have seen in movies past.

The main problem, however lies with Russell Gewitz's lazy script (surprise ending?! Ha! Even someone who has never seen a movie before will figure it out) and Jon Avnet's inability to direct two of the greatest Hollywood icons, as well as his obvious lack of a cohesive vision (as proved by the editing and sloppy camera work).

Despite these things it doesn't come off as absolutely unwatchable, but the film does become something much more frustrating: a movie that could've been something; should've been something, and failed.

If you want to see DeNiro and Pacino together in a real film, check of Michael Mann's "Heat." They don't share as much screentime, but it's a far superior film.
