Review of Right at Your Door (2006) by Mark A — 27 Feb 2008
The shaky camera work, fast-cut editing, hokey dialogue and flat acting from the two leads really hurt this movie with the only saving grace being Tony Perez as the handyman looking for safety. Of course throw in a twist ending worthy of being M.
Night Shymalan's (sp) illegitimate brother and you have yourself a sometimes exciting mostly boring character--thriller...I guess. It could have actually ended a bit sooner if it were not for the writer's insistence that we feel some type of empathy/sympathy for the leads.
I will say though...my favorite part(s) of the movie: The view of downtown after the explosions, the somewhat authentic feel and frenetic pacing of the radio broadcasts, and the initial "flashlight" moment when the soldiers first appear that spooked me a bit.
..other than that...meh.
