Beverly was just too self-absorbed and careless to be likable. I didn't think she deserved to get out of the hole she continued to dig herself into. And Drew Barrymore didn't bring much more to the character either. I didn't buy that her character was all that smart, nor did I buy that she was 16. Steve Zahn and Brittany Murphy did more justice to their characters.
At least the thesis of the movie is pretty solid. "One day can change your life. One day can ruin your life. All life is is three or four big days that change everything.".
