Review of Riding Giants (2004) by Sarah H — 04 Jun 2007
Peralta once again delves into a subculture, from its roots to its modern incarnation. This time surfing. Again, some amazing footage was uncovered, from the mid-50s to present. Instead of just being a surfing documentary, it's a doc about what it was to live that life, what it was that drove those people to find bigger and better waves upon which to ride.
And it's really a documentary about three of the standout personalities of the sport/culture, and the evolution of that culture around them.
