Review of Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles (2005) by Wendy S — 12 Feb 2008
Same director as Hero and House of Flying Daggers. This movie explores less action-oriented themes as in previous films, and dives into the complex emotional corridors of an estranged dad and his dying son.
It's a slow start, but as you plug along, it grows on you, and is quite touching as you get into the movie. Really enjoyed Ken Takakura... The scene with his video, and later with the little boy, really got to the bare bones of it all, and his acting was superb!! Just to see the landscape of China in this film, is worth it!
