Review of Ride the High Country (1962) by Michael J — 12 May 2008
My favourite film. An absolutely terrific study of a dying age and changing loyalties between friends. Peckinpah's idolisation of the western legend, it's honour and moral values stands clean here, uninterrupted by any of the flashier aspects of his later movies.
He displays his ideals and themes clearly with a beautiful relationship between Gil and Steve, each actor and actress is excellent in filling out there role. This western stands as timeless as the legend it is telling, unlike Peckinpah's career.
