Review of Ride the Eagle (2021) by Jluis_001 — 26 Feb 2022
The message and overall notions of this story are the best thing about Ride the Eagle. A film that doesn't benefit from having as a lead a Jake Johnson stuck in a mold as an actor.
The clearest flaw in this narrative in my opinion, lies in the fact that, as I said, while the message is good, there's nothing particularly interesting in the unfolding of the events that occur on screen.
It's fine that the character gets his journey to heal his problems, but I couldn't connect with anything that is presented there, and that of course will undermine any story that needs that precise element from the viewers to keep their attention alive.
Perhaps the point of such indie films is not to be quickly forgotten or dismissed, but when there's so little to mention in terms of significance, their purpose and function end the very moment the credits begin to roll.
