Review of Ride Along (2014) by Calvin C — 13 May 2014
The movie is hardly a ride along, but a another buddy cop movie. Kevin Hart is actually restrained with his humor here which is bad since Ice Cube plays it straight like he also do. If Hart was the comedian we know from his other comedies, the ying and yang aspect would have worked (look at Rush Hour). The plot and characters become cliche and the funny parts are few and far between. I think I laughed more at Kevin Hart when he was in Grudge Match and Think Like A Man than I did with him in this movie. As a comedy, it isn't all that funny and as a cop flick, it isn't all that original.
