Review of Ride Along (2014) by Tyler R — 03 Oct 2014
And once again, almost all of the funniest parts are spoiled in the trailers. The sad part about that? They weren't even that funny. Ride Along follows a hardened cop as he reluctantly takes his sister's boyfriend under his wing.
Kevin Hart is funny and Ice Cube is hilarious in the Jump Street films. However, they are cut down and filtered in this watered down buddy cop comedy that has been made a thousand times over. And that's another issue with the film.
There's zero originality and the "twist" is seen coming a mile away. The only surprise in this film is that it's so unfunny. Kevin Hart tries his hardest, but Ice Cube looks like he isn't even trying.
The film lacks an energy that a successful comedy like The Other Guys had. And by the time it's finally over, there isn't much of an impression left. Hopefully the sequel is funnier.
