Review of Ride Along (2014) by Alan P — 27 Jul 2015
It's like this, Kevin Hart movies are tailored to take advantage of his brand of comedy, unless of course it's an ensemble like Think Like A Man. If you don't like him, you won't like his movies.
I just started watching his stuff with the earlier 2015 release The Wedding Ringer and I like him and I have been a Cube fan since he was breaking down barriers with N.W.A. In fact, one of the first cassettes my mom ever confiscated was Ice Cube's AmeriKKKA's Most Wanted.
Why she would not let me listen to an album with a track titled Get Off My Dick and Tell Your Bitch To Come Here, I'll never understand. This movie can be very funny even if it's unfocused at times and lazily plotted.
But those are nitpicks, this movie's intention is to make people laugh. And laugh I did. Also, you have to understand that this flick was directed by Tim Story who's only really worthy flick is Barbershop.
This is the jackass who thought Galactus was a giant robot, and "there will be no giant robot in my movie" so he decided to change him into a giant space cloud in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Despite this and trust me, it's hard to forgive a man who may have ruined a chance for us to get the Silver Surfer movie we deserve, I still enjoyed it. Plus, I blame the studio for giving him the Fantastic Four movies.
Seriously, you based this decision on Taxi? Good Job, Fox. Thankfully they rectified that choice by giving the new FF to Josh Trank. Let's just hope they didn't interfere too much.
