Review of Ride Along 2 (2016) by Jason C — 19 Jan 2016

Ride Along 2 is nothing more than a decent movie, but it's pretty funny. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube work well together and the addition of Ken Jeong and Olivia Munn was fantastic.

I would have hoped that they put a little more effort into the script with this wonderful cast. The story is basic and obvious, and is there isn't any kind of twist. It's written well enough that the story flows and jokes are set up to keep us laughing. The one thing that I never thought could happen for me is that Kevin Hart's schtick would old, but it did in a few parts. He was just too much in some parts. I like his character (we'll leave it at that because he hasn't exactly shown range), but it was overdone in Ride Along 2.

Hart and Cube are a great team in need of a comparable movie. We'll see how Hart does with Dwayne Johnson in a few months. I'm excited to see that. For now, I think Ride Along 2 is a good way to pass time in January.
