Review of Riddick (2013) by Brett H — 21 Jan 2014
Riddick's third outing goes back to the roots of Pitch Black after the disastrous direction The Chronicles of Riddick took, to mostly mixed results. Vin Diesel does indeed OWN the character of Richard Riddick, but apart from him being game and Katee Sackhoff being a true badass, the rest of the actors were just blah! There's tonal inconsistencies and truly bizarre dialogue here that makes you question how a writer could ever hit save.
But the good parts are by far the action and there is one death that was a serious "OH!" moment, involving a decapitation. Overall, Riddick is a step in the right direction and I welcome it's return to it's R-rated roots, but I don't know if I'd care to see a fourth entry.
