Review of Riddick (2013) by Tanvir M — 27 Feb 2014
This is actually a tough movie to review. Pitch Black was a redefining science fiction movie followed by Chronicles of Riddick which brought the series deep into science fiction action greatness. Now we have Riddick which gears away from that and goes back to the routes of the original which we have already been at and is nowhere redefining.
Also as a sequel we were left before craving more between Riddick and the Necromongers but instead it is between Riddick and bounty hunters which we have seen twice already. So is the third time a charm? Yes actually because Vin Diesel has proven he is always a great one man show.
The bounty hunters are played by some very favorable actors such as Bad Boys 2 villain Jordi Molla, 24 television series Season 8 Nina Myers persona Katee Sackhoff and one of my old time even if it was mostly television favorites Bokeem Woodbine.
There is even a nice twist in store in connecting Riddick to the original Pitch Black which it does well as a sequel. As much as I enjoyed this sequel if any others are to come it certainly needs to take the series in a bigger direction next time like Chronicles did with Pitch Black so this currently great series does not fall into sequel repetitiveness.
