More like a Pitch Black sequel than a follow up to 'Chronicles', Riddick is over the top, non-stop, survivalist sci-fi. Being abandoned on a hostile world where life has not thrived but adapted only serves to remind him that he's gotten soft and 'civilized' and needs to get back to basics.
Glad that both Riddick and director Twohy recognized this and then unapologetically make the most of it. Fans will like it and noobs will too, but would be better served watching them in order.
