Review of Riddick (2013) by Kevin S — 01 Apr 2014

This film is exactly what I expected. Vin Diesel plays the titular character, the third time he has played the roll. In a return to the more character driven, smaller scope storytelling method employed by Pitch Black (the first Riddick film), the hero has fallen from grace and is again stranded on a planet with an environmental/biological countdown about to unfold.

Throw in some competing mercenaries - some bent on vengeance and others on profit - and include some weird, unpredictable alien lifeforms, and let the chaos unfold. If you have a strong suspension of disbelief and are looking to watch something with sci-fi flavor that is "badass" for no other real reason than to be "badass," Riddick is your boy.
